I have a 1950 D1 plunger and I want to find out part numbers and which type of speedo, and speedo drive were fitted.
So far I believe the speedo drive required is 2:1 for 19" wheels. I have BSA Part number #66-6266, but I don't know the smiths number.
Many ebay listings don't have either number!!
For the speedo itself I have Smiths Part #S411/L. Will other types work eg #S433/1/L, or S/????/?
Any advise appreciated.
The way I understand it any " D " type speedo head should be ok, the different part numbers most likely refer to the scale as most D1 bantams have a scale up to 55 mph and some of the later ones and D3's have a scale up to 70 mph ! not that you would be likely to get there though.
BSA Bantam D1 "150" in use regularly often as general purpose transport, quite a few other bikes as well. Cornwall Area Rep.
