Hi.  I was wondering if there are any members who know what carb would fit a 1966 D7 engine number GD7 4527.  Thanks in advance.

Hi.
The D7 Bantam uses an Amal monoblock carb 375. It seems that over the years various different jet sizes were used depending on model and country the bike was dispatched to. The most common seems to be the 375/31. The 31 bit just implies the jet and slide configuration.
It is possible to buy a new one from Amal and they list the 375/31.
I know of another member who bought one a few years ago and it worked fine on his 1966 D7.
Mike.

Thank you for the info Mike, I had seen so many different ones, & was unsure, I have part of a 626/12 that came with all the bits for my D7 but there were also extra & odd bits of bike with it too, so was unsure, but thanks again.  Ron.

Hello Ron a 626/12 carb is listed for the 1968 D14 /4 models with 26mm bore. So it is a bit larger than D7  which is 7/8 .

the   375 mono    was  never  fited  up to be a  2stroke  carb    by  bsa.,.   And  seeing  as you have a 626  it  may  allready  have a 2 strok  jet  in  and  its a beter

carb  anyway    id go for that  and fit an  inlet spacer  for the 2  sizes  involved

Allens performance list a new Mikuni VM26-0241-K for the D7. You can also have it with a pancake filter if you need that it's a... 0242-K.

You may need to file down the solder on the throttle slide end of the throttle cable to get it to fit in, but the carb itself should be correctly jetted for your D7.

Paul
