G'day all,

Just wondering ... did Bantams (Mine is a swing arm1956 D3) ..have different sizes of centre-stands .Mine came with these two.As can be seen, there's some modification 😉 done to one of them.Did some models have a longer stand ?

The footrest bar on mine is very worn, with a lot of play everywhere.. could the bits welded onto the stand be to compensate for this wear ?

Thanks and regards from OZ .. Charlie

The one on the right has been modified to compensate for wear - but the wear is often to the top-stops of the stand, so that it sits too far forward when deployed, so that the bike becomes unstable on it. You can normally repair it with some welding and a bit of grinding. Look at the section of flat bar across the underneath of the frame, too.

Hi bantammad ere here’s a thought l have a D5 same frame as a  D3 swing arm type main difference is wheel sizes so maybe the stand height from the pivot point to the base is longer due to the  18 inch 19 inch respectively also due to general wear? Regards Les

Glad to help - it's a common fault, from what I've seen. Not really surprising on aged bikes. wink

Having repaired many d1 to d5 stands, apart from the feet wearing out on the stand, the need for blocks on the feet because the stand is now sitting to far forward, due to the frame itself and not the stand stops....
