The new project arrived which I'm more than happy with, it looks better in the flesh than it did on the ebay photos. It was described as a James frame and a BSA Bantam D7 which seams to match ok. I need to change/lower the seat area as its a bit tall for me only being 5ft.4". Can't wait to get cracking with it. Just one thing what would be the name of bike, James BSA, BSA James, BSAJ, JBSA.......or mongrel lol. Bantam-2104.jpg

That does look interesting. As for a name, as long as it's not "Bl##dy @@@@", a suitable one will turn up. That 'seat' does look a bit lacking in comfort, perhaps it's to encourage standing on the pegs - which is way better on trails, anyway.

Not sure what hub is on the bike but is there anything I can do regards the fitment of the hub and the forks, as you can see the fork stub is only just inside.wheel-hub..jpgwheel-hub.jpg

Bin it and find a set-up that fits? I wouldn't like to trust my front teeth to a front  brake than could  fail and lock the wheel.

These primary chain tensioners are handy. Mine was very slack.Banatam-tensioner.jpg

Don't like the look of that at all, I think a new chain is needed. They're not at all expensive. http://livinginthepast-audioweb.co.uk/imagex/misc/idunno.gif

Agreed, shouldn't need a chain tensioner in there.

I'm sure it'll be fine. I'll post a video somewhere hopefully showing how quite it is when I've started it up in a few days when the rest of the bits turn up.

This was on my D3 when opened for maintenance. A new chain sorted it.

Have you got a before and after pic? I'm just going off this post regarding buying a new chain and it was still slack but a tensioner sorted it. Screenshot-2021-04-29-235658.png

Hi,

just a thought, what size engine sprocket are you Running? If it’s been reduced for trials you may need a new chain and a tensioner!

Regards

Mine is the standard 17t on my trials project, I'll see how it goes but if I need to get a 12t I'm guessing a link will have to be removed as well as the tensioner.
