I’ve recently purchased a set of modified c15 forks to fit to my d14 trials. I will need to get a 21 inch front wheel made up and wondered why many people seem to fit bantam hubs to the c15 forks rather than c15/c15? Wouldn’t it be easier to use a c15 hub as it would just fit without any fettling? Is there a benefit for me to source a bantam hub rather than c15?

The front brake on a trials bike is better weaker than stronger,My Cota has moped hubs but the first ones had the ordinary road hub but  not for long...The B40T which we are giving shelter to has  a half width hub from a d10 I think.

That makes sense. If I buy say a d7/10/14 front hub (half width) should it just fit without modification? Many thanks.

It depends on what has been done to the 'C15' forks which come in several flavours and might even be B25 ...

I have consulted the B40 man..Your forks are probably ss80 or 90 and it is not worth the scutter to to change hubs .since the brake is only 1/2 width anyway . .Our lodger has early forks .

Thanks for the identification! Are you saying it’s best to use a c15 hub then?

Well his view is that unless you are Malcolm Rathmell you won't see any difference and will save a lot of fuss.Taper roller  head stock conversion though he says is a good wheeze if funds allow.look up Otter BSA ** Please log in to view **

In the end I went for a D7 hub purely because looking at all of the bikes at my local trials event 99% were running bantam/tiger cub half width hubs. Even the boys on c15's swap out their hubs to the half width. I also realised that the guy I got the forks off was running a d7 hub. I assume I will need to change/get a spindle made up (still waiting for the hub to arrive and to offer it up to the fork) as I imagine it will be too short on the d7 hub. I wonder if one from a b175 would fit?

It must be a sign of madness quoting myself! I've just scrolled up the post and realised (looking at my own picture) that the forks have a bleedin spindle in em which must have been fitted to the d7 hub!
