Hi just some advice changing gear box oil , i have drained old oil out ok my query is the sump nut screw has just a copper washer on it is this enough to seal the sump nut ? or should there be a fibre washer has well , or would a bit of PTF Tape on the thread be ok . or is copper washer sufficent to make a good seal.   Kind regards Derek ( cave41man )

Copper is a soft metal and should be good enough to make an oil tight seal. Assuming its in good condition of course.

Current bikes......1958 D5,  and a 76 Honda C90 in the workshop.

You can soften a copper washer if its hardened by heating till its red...cool it by placing on cool steel...
