I’m looking to strip and rebuild the front forks on my 1957 d3 this my 1st time restoration and wondered if there was a diagram and parts listing for this. Having looked at the service sheets on the site these would appear to be up to 1956 year or should I assume the 57 model is the same. Would be grateful for any pointers.

Hi David,

1956 should cover your D3 ok. 1957 was the last year for the D3, as BSA tooled up for the one year run D5 for 1958, if I remember correctly.

D3s changed from Plunger to swing arm rear towards the end of its run. Front forks remained unchanged I believe. I have two swing-arm D3s in big chunks, one grey, other black, plus a nearly rebuilt`54 Plunger D3.
