Hello Bantam fans,

I am new to the forum I joined about 10 minits ago.I have been trying to restore a D14 since 1998! , one reason or enougher it aint done yet.

About 5 years back, I very nearly completed it ,but had to source some more forks,so I tracked a set of 1969 b175 ones down, all was good untill  I tried the forks movement out, and the d14 headlamp nacel was too tight a fit and the forks would not retract!!,

I later found out the forks are off a c15 and "heavy weight" so decided to track down a B175 headlamp ,rubber gaiters ,headlamp spacers ..and so on, this took a few years, I found those parts this week ,I just can't find the B175 headlamp brackets anywhere!!(the pair of brackets that hold the headlamp in place on the forks)...someone I spoke to called them shrouds?,

I have been told that bsa c15 ones fit ,but I cant find any of these ,

so as a new lead I thought ide join a bantam forum, and post a question ,does anyone know where I can find a pair of b175 headlamp brackets, or if anyone knows what other brackets will fit the b175 forks, so I can try and get the bantam finished in time for its 50th b-day next year and my 20th year of ownership.

regards

Richard.

Richard.

This prob wont help...but the brackets should already be welded onto the B175 forks...sounds like yours are missing for some reason.

Can you post a pic of your forks.

No the B175 brackets for the headlight on the heavyweight forks are not welded to the forks they fit between the upper and lower fork brackets, but I have to say they are quite difficut to find, C15 brackets don't fit but C11g brackets might fit I am unsure on this. Regards Basil.

I have several pairs of these, but not sure whether they're Bantam 175 or not, I'll look them out and post some pics, or maybe I ought to send pics to your PM address instead?

Four now on the road and at least several in bits.

They are the one's Piquet, I think C11g might be the same, but all in all both are quite difficult to find. Regards Basil.

The part numbers for the B175 items are 97-3759 & 97-3760. Normally if BSA used a part from another model the numbers would cross reference but I can't find anything that suggests these were fitted to another model.

If any from the C15 range would fit, they would have to be from an off-road model as the standard C15 had a nacelle like the D7/D10/D14. I would imagine these to be just as rare.

Some of the pre-unit 'C' models used a similar looking (at the top) part but as they didn't have gaiters, they had long tubes that just reached down to the seal holder much like the nacelle trousers fitted to the lightweight D7/D10/D14 forks but a bigger diameter.

The only ones I know of that had fork fittings similar to a Bantam was the early C10L which actually used D3 type forks (actually I think it was the other way round as many of the part numbers for D3 forks would suggest that the parts were first used for the 'C' series range).

You would have thought there might be quite a few B175 brackets about as many trials bikes were built with the heavyweight forks and I suspect most will not have fitted lights.

The only thing I can suggest if you want to get the bike on the road is to fit clamp on headlamp brackets (they fit like clip-on handlebars) until such time as you can source the correct items.

hope-that-helps

EDIT:-

There is a pair listed on eBay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm.....Sw2WBZiBTy

but they may be pattern parts, check carefully as they are not cheap!

I'll probably regret saying this one day but I've got a pair you can buy. If you send me a private message with what you consider a reasonable offer - including postage unless you want to come and get them - I'll get back to you. Ken.

If you click on my name by the side of my message (b175er) you'll get my profile and you'll be able to send me a p.m. These are genuine B175 parts as they're off the bike I use now without lights. I'll be away from work and computer after eight until Friday afternoon so I'll send you a p.m. now. It'll be in your inbox at the top of the forum page. Click on it to open your inbox and then on the message itself to open it. Ken.
