could need a new chain. i am more concerened with the other side. the shaft is off centre. I have set a wire pointer up under a screw before the top was on and wacked the nut with a hammer, its closer nearly good enough. Trouble is in my keenness i have pressed a new bush into the points.

yesterday i cleaned and assembled the points side. With the ststor screws loose it had a 2 thou wabble tightened up felt ok to turn.

Today gearbox oil seal those gasket kits are as thin as cigerette papers, so i made some.  The last engine had a new looking clutch

i Have two and a half engines with clutshes and some new cork plates.I planed on using the new cork plates but the spline didnt fit.

indians cant copy. The last engine had a new looking clutch but the kick start gear has worn. The plates were as new so using them.

Fighting to put the circlip in no luck and then i remembered about the clutch pusher. I dreamt about forgetting that.

tomorrow the clutch, i found an egg ring that fits so ill try tomorrow to get the knak.

Two thou run-out doesn`t sound too bad,I seem to remember someone, maybe Sunny?? mentioning 1 1/2 thou limit...so fingers crossed.Keep an eye on bush wear.

Can you get hold off a clutch compressor tool ok.I`m sure I stood on a Bantam clutch to compress it in the early seventies while my father inserted the circlip.

Don`t forget to fit the mushroom first 🙂

well its back together with coil ignition i fully expected it to start first or second kick.

but no the fn bitch ive got a sore foot from when the kick bottoms.went through the usual things but no go dead as a maggot. Aerostart gets it going for a few seconds so its gotta be fuel the carby seems ok theres nothing to it. It does seem dry around the jet.

Ill have another go tomorrow.

My D3 is converted to coil & battery ign. I find it does still need a couple of kicks and a good tickling before turning on the ignition and trying 'for real'. Usually starts then. Be prepared for loads of smoke from the build up of petroil in the silencer though, until it all burns off. Once in regular use, seems much better.

As you've been trying for a time, I expect you've drained the crankcase from time to time?

Problem solved. When i gave the carby the once over earlier and screwing the jet block back in it felt very tight and felt like it might strip so i put some lock tight on it and pinched it up.

On closer inspection it was bottoming on the cap nut under it. So i took it out cleaned the lock tight off and screwed it back in it was very firm and didnt sytrip. The top of the needle jet was flush before now its proud by a good 1/8 inch.Put it back on and it started first kick and sounds beautifull.

It even idles nicely, you little ripper.
