Researching the parts required for my 53 D1 Lucas plunger I found this very useful reference and now have a picture of the side light bulb holder 516597  and the clip that holds undeslung side light lens in place but might need 516395 to fit around lens.

I am sure will also be useful for other British bikes of that era.

My bike's headlight seems to be a mix of SSP575P for switch and panel, with the underslung light of SSP575P/1

Pleased if it helps anyone else.

I have just ordered the underslung bulb holder 516597 from Draganfly who had in stock at £9.59

They list the rubber surround   516396 at £1.89 but no stockuntil next year

enabled me to ascertain that this oddity is in fact Lucas, but fitted to what I wonder.

Four now on the road and at least several in bits.

Another page from the same catalogue (Lucas Equipment and Spare Parts for Motor Cycles 1936-1957) explains that part numbers starred are no longer available and refers the reader to the supersession chart[Permission to view this image is denied]
