Hi I have a problem with my d1 jumping out of 3rd gear , I've not stripped it yet as i want to locate some replacement parts first i can't seem to find a new 28 tooth output gear but rex caunt lists a new 24 tooth one and a matching 23 tooth layshaft gear . my question is has anybody tried this it looks like 2nd and third will be a lot closer which would be good but 1st will be a lot higher but i would imagine that will be ok as the standard 1st gear is very low , i have a d3 barrel and carb .

I tried that combination with my old D7 engine, and it worked well. I think the D10 used that combination as standard. I also tried it with my tunes D1 and it might have been ok for either off road work with a lower overall gearing from a big rear sprocket, or on a race where you weren’t pulling away much, but with a peaky tuned 125 and road gearing it was horrible and needed loads of clutch slip in traffic. I’d think that you’ll be ok with a D3 head and barrel though.

just found out that there is also a 26/21 option on a d7 , do all 3 speed gears interchange ? as that would change the ratio a lot less
