This weekend sees the 92nd Land's End Trial (began in 1908). 125 bikes and over 200 cars will start at various points on Friday afternoon from 5pm onwards (Plusha near Launceston, Michaelwood services north of Bristol, and Popham near Basingstoke) to converge at Bridgwater Rugby club around 10pm onwards. A good number of the bikes and most of the cars are "classics" and worth the effort to see them perform in arduous conditions for machines and pilots alike.
The riders and drivers (bikes set off first) then continue from around midnight north over Exmoor, North Devon and North Cornwall to reach Camelford about 7am for breakfast (I hr) and then on again through Cornwall to Blue Hills near St Agnes for the final off road sections to finish ultimately around 2pm onwards at Fraddon just off the A30 between Newquay and St Austell.
There are 3 Bantams running in the main trial, including our very own Gavin Shaw - good luck chaps.
See the MCC's website ** Please log in to view ** for details of sections where spectators are welcome and timings.

A great day for it, we saw the Bantams tackle it, well two failed to get going from the re-start though, plus one at the end just sailed through the re-start stop and kept going ! Maybe he had enough and just wanted to finish, a few old Brit Irons tackled the hill ok plus an interesting Laverda off-roader !
Plans are afoot for some sidecar action ! Paul Sharrock is the likely pilot and I am the likely passenger, all we need now is an outfit and to learn how to control an outfit ! watch this space (old Brit Iron beast preferred).

150 miles on the 150 Gilera today, what a little screamer this thing is.

Looks a brilliant day there - glad to see Andy P successful on his (completely) home-built frame which he finished just last weekend.
Paul S has got the sidecar "knack" (and I certainly haven't) and Andy P has an outfit which might be available.....not Brit though.....but if you guys are up for the L.E. on a sidecar
Incidentally David Warwick (Paul S knows who I mean) has just completed his TS250 and sidecar so you've got competition already!!
You have watched the sidecaristas drive up these hills haven't you, Phil? Gentle, it ain't!

Ah well, I've had a chance to be mobile ballast with A.P. on his Kawa 500 and lived to tell the tale. We tackled an Exeter Trial hill called Tillerton amongst others and I would say that it was the best work out you could wish for. Phew!
I also tried piloting the said beast but it was so dire my passenger considered baling out a couple of times in just 100 yards of ordinary green lane - throttle on; go left. Throttle off, go right.
I'll leave it to others.
