I have just done a complete nut and bolt restoration of D14/4 sport (1968).
I have a carburettor problem, I believe. I have read all the other carb topics and none match and I have checked all the ideas presnted, but nothing has madea difference.
While standing on the centre stand, to start, you always have to flood the carb (hot or cold). It will only run with the choke down and if lifted will stop. It will only run in the upper part of the rev range. Occasonally, it suddenly revs out of control. The plug is the correct colour
However, when off the stand and going in gear, it will work in the lower rev range, it chugs along, acceleration is poor.
I suspect a very weak mixture, but all carb joints have been checked and I have (even) bought a new carb). jets are recommeded sizes as are adjustment levels.
Any ideas or other possibilities?
