Anyone got any experience repairing control cables? My throttle cable snapped and was thinking about soldering a new nipple on the end but never done it before.Sure it's not too hard but any tips would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

I made up a small cup from a short length of copper pipe 22mm nipped up one end and left a cup of between 1to 11/2 inch deep . The nipped up end is held in a voice which is then filled with solder from a melted stick of solder . When I need to make a cable I just put the cup in the voice and heat it up until melted I then drop the cable end with nipple fitted with suitable with flux added you should end up with perfect joint.

I can't seem to locate the nipples cheap enough as a new cable is only £6 it would be fun to do but possibly be cheaper to buy a cable and have done 😂

I have reused nipples in the past if they were in good condition and I had not got a new one in my spares tin

throttle cables are another mine field on ebay correct outer length is 29” for D14
with original bars and twist grip, some are selling 34”and 36” which are too long
and there is also 3 different type of t/grip end nipple used on brit bikes for Amal carbs
